Entry Fee: Complete entry form, attach a roster and a check for
$20.00 per player payable to:
USTA Southern Section . Championships.
Entry Deadline: Captains return your entry form and player roster to
your State League Coordinator within seven days of your state
tournament. Teams must be register in tennislink by Dec. 15, 2007.
Registration/Captains
Meeting: Adult/Senior Team Captains must attend the Captains Meeting
on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn South to
register teams and pick up final schedule. Registration desk opens

Super Seniors: Captains must attend the Captains Meeting on
Saturday, January 26, at 4:00pm. Registration will begin at 4:00 at
the Lamar YMCA. 8100 YMCA Plaza, Baton Rouge, LA 70801
Schedule: Round robin play may
begin as early as 8:30 am on Friday, January 25th for adult
teams and senior teams and 8:30 am on Sunday, January 27th for
super senior teams. Tentative schedule will be available at:
www.southerncombo.com on Thursday, December 13th.
Surface: Adults will play on hard courts and Seniors/Super Seniors
on Clay
DRESS CODE:
Bocage Racquet Club has a strict dress code as follows:
Tennis attire (shorts, shirts, skirts) must be 90% white. Shoes must
be 50% white. Warm-ups/jackets may be 100% color.
Tournament
Headquarters: YMCA Lamar Tennis Center individual scores and
standings will be posted there each day and at www.southerncombo.com
Player Party: Held Saturday night TBD. The party will include food,
cash bar, music and door prizes. Guest tickets will be on sale at
door.
Amenities: Fruit, water and ice at each site. Trainer on site at
YMCA Lamar Tennis Center each day. Each player will receive a
tournament t-shirt. Captains will receive a captains’ gift.
Awards: Championship and finalists’ awards will be given to all
players.
Format/Rules: Each of the nine states will send one team in each
level. A wildcard team is selected in each level to complete a
10-team draw with two groups of five. Each group plays a round robin
with group winners advancing to the finals.
Players must play in at least one local or state championships match
to be eligible. (If there is no local or state competition offered,
a team may advance directly to the BMW Combo Doubles Southern
Sectional Championships.
All players must have proof of current USTA membership and be listed
on the original roster.
Players will receive a two-minute set break at the end of each set
with no coaching. There is no break after the first game on the
changeover. There is a 90-second break during each changeover in the
rest of the set. A match tiebreak (first to ten points with a margin
of two) will be played in lieu of a third set with no breaks and no
coaching. Players change sides every six points.
The format may be changed due to inclement weather. In the event of
a tie in the round robin (two or more teams with the same team
record) the group winner will be decided by:
1. Most individual matches won.
2. Fewest sets lost.
3. Fewest games lost.
4. Head to Head winner
5. Coin Toss.
2008 Southern Sectional League Championships Cancellation Policy
Should inclement weather or other circumstances prevent the
completion of a Sectional Championship, the Tournament Committee
will determine whether the matches played at the point of
cancellation will be used to determine round robin group winners and
a champion and finalist in each level.
If the Tournament Committee determines that there was a lack of
"equal opportunity" for all teams in the level due to the schedule
of play, the Tournament Committee will place all teams in a drawing
to determine the champion and finalist in each level. (For instance,
in a five team round robin, one team may be in first place at the
time of cancellation with two matches played, while other teams in
the round robin have fewer matches played. This example would not
provide "equal opportunity" for all teams in the round robin and
would not be used to determine the round robin group winner). If any
team in a round robin flight is mathematically out of contention at
the time of championship cancellation it will be excluded from the
drawing.
The Tournament Committee has reserved courts for Monday, Jan. 28th
as a rain date.
Initial travel plans should not be based on this date, as the
Tournament Committee would shorten format, play at night, etc.
